Sew Quirky from Australia make a range of fun and delightful patterns. You can choose to make Furlicity cat or Frankie the Frenchie dog for this workshop and you can make them your own by the fabrics you choose to include. Most of the smaller pieces can be made from scrap, but you will need a 13 x 13 inch square for the background. You will learn how to prepare pieces for applique, how to layer and attach them to your background and stabilise your fabric for applique. We will experiment with using several decorative stitches for the applique to embellish your project. It’s all about learning techniques and you will be able to repeat this process on future projects.
You can choose to use your finished applique as a quilt block, cushion cover or make it into a tote bag (all of the instructions for these are in the pattern) You can expect to complete the applique only in the workshop.
You will need: The Pattern (available in shop), fabric, and threads. Fusibles and an applique mat will be supplied.
