This two session class would be a great way to carry on from the introduction to quilting class. In this class you’ll get more practice with your rotary cutting skills and you’ll learn a classic, versatile quilt block. You’ll be working with brushed cotton which has a looser weave to traditional quilting cottons. You’ll learn how to deal with the particular challenges of working with this fabric. The pattern is otherwise very easy with very little seam matching required. You’ll end up with a very snuggly blanket…especially if you choose to back it with fleece. Fabric will be red, white and blue…”Picnic Basket Wovens” by Moda. (you can see the fat quarters being used in the second photo)
You’ll need to purchase the wovens for creating your patchwork top (£40) backing, wadding & binding are not included.
The class will be self-paced so how much you complete of your quilt top is up to you. We should be able to complete all piecing in class, but if you do homework between sessions you may have time to start quilting in class. Otherwise, sandwiching, quilting and binding will need to be completed at home.
