So. Amber’s been let out from behind the counter on a day pass to guide you through making this fun and versatile English paper pieced medallion of her own design.

You’ll be using four different shapes to create your medallion which can then either be appliqued on to another project or you can make more if you choose and join them together – you’ll be shown how to go about both options.  This class is suitable for beginners and experienced sewers alike, Amber will show you both methods of basting your papers – traditional thread basting and modern glue basting. You will have the chance to try a glue pen and they can be purchased at the shop on the day.

You will need to decide on your colours and source your fabrics ahead of the class. There are a couple of samples here for you to see the pattern each medallion creates to help you plan. This workshop is a great scraps-buster and only requires minimal fabric – see the guide below.

You will need to bring with you:

  • A basic sewing kit – needle and non precious/expensive thread for basting.
  • A glue pen (temporary glue) if you already use one for your sewing.
  • Your fabric choices/scraps for your medallion – see size guide

*All papers, templates, fine needle and fine thread will be supplied.

The Medallion Pieces and fabric guide:
